You and a guest are invited to the second annual
BGS Technology and Innovation Conference

on Saturday, January 14, 2012, beginning at 10:00AM.

Highlights of the morning include keynote speaker Dr. Lorry Wagner, President of LEEDCo, speaking on the wind turbine project on Lake Erie. In the afternoon, we will be holding an expert panel discussion on Sustainability, and, due to popular demand, the Solyndra Case Study Competition* designed for professionals.

Judge Bios:

Robert S. Reitman is a retired lawyer and businessman who now focuses on philanthropic and civic matters. Currently he chairs the Robert S. and Sylvia K. Reitman Family Foundation and holds leadership positions in United Way of Greater Cleveland, ideastream (public broadcasting), University Hospitals Health System, the Case School of Medicine, the Jewish Federation of Cleveland and the Cleveland Zoological Society. He serves on the board of The Tranzonic Companies and previously was a Director of Key Corp., Weirton Steel and Mercury Aviation. He is a graduate of West Virginia University's College of Business and Economics and Case Western Reserve University School of Law.

Mary Kay Schneider is Executive Vice President and Credit Executive, Central Credit, at PNC Financial Services Group. As Credit Executive, she recently completed building the capabilities in Cleveland and Indianapolis to handle all new commercial loan adjudication and portfolio management for about ½ of PNC’s commercial loans in numerous business lines that have exposure of $3MM or less. She also has responsibility for PNC’s delivery of government sponsored lending across the entire geography. For the last several years, Mary Kay served as Chair of the Business Banking Risk Management Committee. Mary Kay is actively involved in the community, serving on the Board of Directors of both Esperanza, Inc. and the Cleveland Area Alumni Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma.

Franklin Barr Lebo, Esq. is an adjunct professor in the department of political science at Baldwin-Wallace College and a member of the sustainability faculty. Some of Professor Lebo's relevant courses include POL102: Humans and the Earth, POL205: Environmental Politics, and POL363I: The Politics of Climate Change, which tackle policy problems stemming from how humanity relates to the natural world. He previously received two faculty development sustainability grants from the McGregor Foundation to develop this curriculum. He is also the recipient of the CALI Award for his research in The American West: Law, Culture, and the Environment. Recent co-authored book chapters include "Development/Poverty Issues and Foreign Policy Analysis” in Robert A. Denemark (Ed.), The International Studies Encyclopedia (2010) by Blackwell Publishing Ltd. and "U.S.-China Trade Relations: Privatizing Foreign Policy" in Ralph G. Carter (Ed.) Contemporary Cases in U.S. Foreign Policy, Fourth Edition (2011) by Congressional Quarterly Press.

Brett Hillard, CFA, CAIA, is a Senior Investment Analyst at Key Private Bank. In his role, Mr. Hillard provides research, analysis and recommendations across a range of securities including public equities, commodities and alternative investments. Prior to joining Key Private Bank, Brett performed valuations of private companies for a local NE OH accounting firm. Brett graduated from Ohio University and has earned his Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designations.

 




2012 BGS Cleveland Chapter Entrepreneurial Club

We are excited to announce the inaugural Cleveland Beta Gamma Sigma Entrepreneurial Club.  The club will provide 4 unique educational experiences in 2012, on the topics of venture capital, liability and structure, business planning, and going public, and will culminate in an Entrepreneurship contest in December 2012.  The contest will provide participants with the opportunity to present their business ideas to a panel of judges with expertise in entrepreneurship.

A key element of the Entrepreneurial Club will be a team component to enhance the learning experience and espouse the exchange of ideas.  If you are interested in joining the Entrepreneurial Club, please submit your resume to bgseccleveland@gmail.com by December 15th, 2011.  Resumes will be reviewed and team members will be selected and notified by January 1st, 2012.
