Sir Adrian Cadbury

Sir Adrian Cadbury has enjoyed a distinguished business career. In 1952, he joined the Cadbury Bros. (now Cadbury Schweppes) company. From 1969 to 1974 he served as the company’s deputy chairman and managing director. He served as chairman from 1974 to 1989.
During his time with Cadbury Schweppes he developed a participative corporate management structure, restructured the company into its current form and grew it to be a Fortune 500 and Financial Times global 500 company.
Sir Adrian has also served as a director of IBM, the Bank of England, and several other multi-national corporations and organizations. In 1977, he was knighted by the Queen of England for his service to British industry.
A pioneer in raising the awareness of and stimulating the debate on corporate governance, Sir Adrian served as chairman of the United Kingdom Committee on the Financial Aspects of Corporate Governance. The Cadbury Code, a code of best practices, which has served as a basis for reform of corporate governance around the world, was released by the committee in 1992.
Sir Adrian was also a member of the United Kingdom Government’s Takeover panel, chaired the Confederation of British Industry’s Economic and Financial Policy Committee, and ProNed, a body designed to promote the appointment of suitably qualified non-executive directors. He was member of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development Business Sector Advisory Group on Corporate Governance and founded the Birmingham Center for Business Ethics.
His publications include: Ethical Managers Make Their Own Rules; The Company Chairman; and Corporate Governance and Chairmanship: A Personal View.
Prior to his business career, Sir Adrian studied economics at Cambridge. He was also part of Great Britain’s rowing team during the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki, Finland.
William R. Sautter

Elliott-Lewis Corporation

For the past 31 years, William R. Sautter has worked diligently to guide the Elliott-Lewis Corporation into a premier heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) facilities-management company.
Under Sautter’s direction, the century-old Elliott-Lewis Corporation has developed into a superior service organization. With operations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Florida, Elliott-Lewis’ 550 employees provide ongoing support to major health facilities, universities and such diverse organizations as the Philadelphia Convention Center and the Philadelphia International Airport.
In 1987, Sautter expanded Elliott-Lewis into the construction industry with the formation of Sautter Crane Rental, a division supporting construction sites throughout the Delaware Valley. In 1998, Elliott-Lewis was acquired by FirstEnergy Corporation, a subsidiary of Enron. During the fall of Enron, Sautter intervened and bought back Elliott-Lewis using his own funds, protecting the jobs and livelihoods of its employees and vendors.
Prior to his executive career, Sautter served in the U.S. Army. From there, his first job was at Univac, a large computing firm in the Blue Bell, Penn., area. While working full-time, Sautter attended evening classes at La Salle University.
Sautter, who graduated with an accounting degree in 1971, has served on La Salle’s Council of President’s Associates and is a member of the School of Business Administration’s Advisory Board. Sautter was a 2002 recipient of La Salle University’s Leadership Award, honoring him for his continuing outstanding leadership in corporate and civic affairs. In 2006, Sautter was appointed chairman of La Salle’s Board of Trustees.
Sautter serves on the Board of Directors of Independence Blue Cross, Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation, the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, and the Mechanical Contractors Association of Eastern Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
