The
BGS Gives Back Initiative recognizes the many members who
offer gifts of time and talent to their communities around
the globe. With over 675,000 members studying or working in
just about every arena of business, this project will allow
the Society to demonstrate that its members are concerned
with more than their own business success; they are people
who give back to society.
Wouldn't it be fascinating to
know how many hours BGS members volunteer, to how many organizations,
over how many states and countries? What level of
charity could be accomplished if only five percent of Beta
Gamma Sigma's members volunteered their time? What
if this number doubled?
How many hours could be donated? How many organizations could be served? What impact could be made?
To faciliate this monitoring, Beta Gamma Sigma has partnered with Tuttidaré, a non-profit organization and social networking site that specializes in facilitating and monitoring volunteerism. Tuttidaré's online tracking system will allow members to login and report their community service hours. The system will keep a continuous count of the hours individually contributed, as well as the cumulative hours of the entire BGS community. Members are encouraged to log their service from February 19, 2012 to March 1, 2013.
Whether you give two hours a week to a mentorship program or participate in a campus service day once a year, your volunteerism matters to BGS. Make sure whatever you currently do is counted by submitting your hours weekly or monthly. If you don’t give back in some way, now would be a great time to join your BGS peers and begin serving! Consider even setting a goal for yourself, like giving 100 hours to honor the 100 years of your Society.
