BGS Member Profile:
Dustin Goss, CEO & Founder POW Gloves

Dustin Goss' favorite day at work says it all.

"“We have a 22-inch powder rule in every employment contract," ”explained the CEO and founder of POW Gloves. “If it snows 22 inches within 24 hours - within three hours of where you're currently located - you have to go to the mountain or else you're fired. So I would say I love 22-inch days."

This unique company rule might secretly stir up some envy, but the rule carries immense purpose and pay-off for Goss and his employees.

A conversation with
John H. Wholihan
Beta Gamma Sigma President 2006-2008

"BGS is about students, honoring them, and giving them opportunities to continue to grow. While the job of a dean is complex it still has to be focused on the people we are to serve, students. I think BGS retains focus on its mission and as long as I am associated with business education I think BGS is the right thing to support."

The BGS Gives Back Initiative recognizes the many members who offer gifts of time and talent to their communities around the globe. With over 675,000 members studying or working in just about every arena of business, this project will allow the Society to demonstrate that its members are concerned with more than their own business success; they are people who give back to society.

Wouldn't it be fascinating to know how many hours BGS members volunteer, to how many organizations, over how many states and countries? What level of charity could be accomplished if only five percent of Beta Gamma Sigma's members volunteered their time? What if this number doubled?

Beta Gamma Sigma is pleased to report that nearly 400 hours of volunteer service have already been recorded by Society members. While it's a great start, we know that there is still a lot of great work that can be done.

Whether you give two hours a week to a mentorship program or participate in a campus service day once a year, your volunteerism matters to BGS. Make sure whatever you currently do is counted by submitting your hours weekly or monthly. If you don't give back in some way, now would be a great time to join your BGS peers and begin serving! Consider even setting a goal for yourself, like giving 100 hours to honor the 100 years of your Society.

BGS History:

On March 18, 2000 BGS installed its first collegiate chapter outside North America at The Chinese University of Hong Kong.

The second chapter outside North America was installed at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology that same year on Oct. 28.

Beta Gamma Sigma is today one of the few global honor societies. With collegiate chapters located on six continents, alumni chapters based on four continents, and members residing in more than 160 countries around the world, Beta Gamma Sigma can accurately boast that it has left its “national” profile far behind.
