BGS Member Profile:
Caroline Moore, Director and Co-Founder, LearnAhead

If you catch Caroline Moore unplugging from work, you might find her playing the popular game “Angry Birds Space” on her iPad. The popularity of smart phones and tablets has turned everything into an application—or to borrow from popular vernacular, an app—including newspaper articles, ninja games, and nutrition calculators.

Moore and her company, LearnAhead, have created an app for English language learning.

Moore’s app proves that turning on your iPhone doesn’t have to mean you’re turning off your brain. While “Angry Birds Space” is purely for fun, there are more and more apps that have popped up to serve educational purposes.

Up, Up and Away!
Sure, Professor Elwell could just fly himself...but why use wings when you can travel with style in a hot air balloon?
This month in
BGS History:

On Nov. 20, 1985, T. Boone Pickens, Jr., president and chairman of Mesa Petroleum Company, was interviewed by Dr. James H. Bearden, then-vice president of Beta Gamma Sigma. The interview was part of Pickens’ session at the Beta Gamma Sigma National Seminar, which was the precursor of today’s BGS Student Leadership Forum.
Pickens made several very provocative statements.

In answering a question about the public’s negative perception of certain business leaders who were involved in controversial acquisition activities at the time, he said, “The public doesn’t know Warren Buffett very well.” That has certainly changed over the past 27 years.
