On February 19, 2013 Beta
Gamma Sigma will Celebrate a Century of
Excellence, reaching its 100-year anniversary
as a honor society. Such a monumental occasion
deserves more than one day of recognition,
so Beta Gamma Sigma will kick off the celebration
beginning with its 99th anniversary - Feb.
19, 2012.
As part of the celebration, Beta Gamma Sigma's
global influence will be on full display.
With more than 675,000 lifetime members residing
in all 50 states and more than 160 countries,
BGS is truly an international organization.
To illustrate this fact, the Society will
be launching an exciting new program - BGS
is Everywhere.
Through the program, members
around the globe will be asked to send in
photos of themselves wherever they might be
located. The program will be a fun way for
members to engage with the Society. BGS is
also in the process of developing several
items that members can include in their photos.
Whether the photos are taken in front of the
Bronze Key on their campus, the Eiffel Tower,
Wall Street or the Great Wall of China, they
will demonstrate the point that BGS truly
is...everywhere.
Another new project in the
works is BGS Gives Back.
This program will challenge members to donate
their time and effort to causes within their
own communities, thereby making the world
a better place. Given the size and scope of
Beta Gamma Sigma, imagine the level of charity
that could be accomplished if only 5 percent
of the Society's 675,000 members volunteered
their time. Now imagine what would happen
if that number doubled or tripled. We are
a powerful organization with extremely talented
and knowledgeable members, and BGS Gives Back
is our opportunity to demonstrate the impact
that Beta Gamma Sigma has on the world.
Beta Gamma Sigma will also encourage its members
to personally promote the society throughout
the year by regularly wearing their BGS lapel
pin. It is our hope that this will serve as
a conversation starter, thereby spreading
the word about the Society and the value of
its membership.
To help further commemorate the occasion,
a special monthly edition of Beta Gamma Sigma's
B-Zine is in the works. The B-Zine:
Centennial Edition will focus on
centennial activities, celebrations, projects,
programs and member engagement efforts. It
will also include feature articles on BGS
members who have or are making an impact in
the business world. If you know of a BGS member
whose efforts should be recognized, please
send their information to BGS Communication
Director Seth Treptow at streptow@betagammasigma.org.
Starting in Spring 2012, Beta Gamma Sigma
will present a series of video conferences
that will provide Beta Gamma Sigma members
with access to several key world business
leaders. These events will be simulcast in
a variety of locations, allowing members in
a variety of locations to participate in the
events and connect with the society.
Stay tuned for further information
about the Centennial. This is an exciting
time for Beta Gamma Sigma, and it is the Society's
hope that our collegiate chapters will join
us in this celebration.
