BetaNet - A Chapter Resource
We at Beta Gamma Sigma realize that our chapter officers are very busy people. Between teaching classes, advising students, grading assignments, and working on your own academic work, free time comes at a premium. As such, we greatly appreciate the time that you devote to serving your school’s BGS chapter.
To make things easier for our chapter officers, the Central Office is always looking for ways to make the chapter relations process more efficient. While new tools such as on-line ordering are expected to benefit collegiate chapters, another tool is already at your disposal: BetaNet.
Designed to serve all BGS members, BetaNet is a portal for everyone with interest in Beta Gamma Sigma. From prospective members and new inductees, to faculty members of the Society, BetaNet provides something for everyone.
In particular, BetaNet is the go to place for collegiate chapter operations.
Starting from the front page of the website (www.betagammasigma.org), chapter officers need only click on the “Collegiate Chapters” link on the left hand of the page. From there, visitors are directed to a collection of collegiate chapter resources.
Included on this collegiate chapter page (www.betagammasigma.org/collegiatechapters.htm) is the Collegiate Chapter Handbook, as well as guidelines for membership eligibility, resources for the collegiate chapter, and suggestions for chapter operations.
Near the top of the page’s right hand column, users will find a
link for “Forms, Registrations and Printed Materials.” This
is the place (www.betagammasigma.org/formsandregistrations.htm)
to go for important registration forms for events such as the Student
Leadership Forum or Collegiate Chapter Workshops. This is also
the place to go for back issues of the “BGS Connection”
if you want to get caught up on previous Society news.
Also from the collegiate chapter page, chapter officers can learn about various BGS Programs, including Chapter Honoree, Professor of the Year, Student Scholarships, Outstanding / Premier / Exemplary chapters and the Student Leadership Forum.
In addition to being a useful tool for chapter operations, BetaNet is also a handy resource for attracting new members to the Society. Included on the site is a page specifically created for those invited to join: www.betagammasigma.org/prospectivemembers.htm.
From here, visitors can learn more about the history of the Society, the benefits that come with lifetime membership, and the significance of membership. Be sure to tell prospective members about BetaNet, and encourage invitees to check it out for themselves.
Also, feel free to share your feedback regarding BetaNet with the Central Office. If you have an idea of how to improve the site, or if there is something you want to see more/less of on the site, please let us know.
