Board of Governors Approves Lifetime Membership Fee Increase
The Beta Gamma Sigma Board of Governors has approved a modest increase in the Lifetime Membership Fee, from $55 to $65 (effective September 1, 2006). Please remember and communicate to those invited that this fee is the only financial requirement for a member's lifetime - once you become a member, you never have to pay another dime to remain a lifetime member.
Chapter representatives were previously notified of the fee increase
by B-Mails sent from the BGS Central Office on August 8, 2006 and August
29, 2006.
This increase was necessitated by increases in shipping, printing,
and other costs. However, the fee still remains very low, and
new members today receive much more from their membership than in the
past. For instance, in addition to lifetime recognition for
academic achievement, the lifetime membership fee entitles new members
to a one-year subscription to BusinessWeek
(print edition for those with a U.S. address, digital version for those
with mailing addresses outside the U.S.) and Fortune
(for those with a U.S. address only) magazines. In addition, members
can take advantage of all the benefits of membership (http://www.betagammasigma.org/benefits.htm)
like the BGS CareerCentral Job Board, the Alumni Chapter Program, and
discounts on publications, insurance products, financial services, travel
assistance, test prep services (Princeton Review, Kaplan, Schweser),
and much more. The lifetime membership fee is still very low compared
to the number and quality of services received.
