2007-08 Beta Gamma Sigma Successes

As we get ready for this year, we wanted to look back and point out that 2007-08 was very successful for Beta Gamma Sigma. We couldn’t have done it without the help of our chapter representatives and deans at AACSB accredited business schools, and the positives were glaring. For instance:
Record Number of New Inductees
Two years ago Beta Gamma Sigma inducted 20,990 new members into the Society. While that was very good, the Board of Governors and Central Office believed more could be done, and more deserving individuals at our chapter schools could be recognized with lifetime membership. Thanks to all of you, 2007-08 was our best year ever.
Last year, 21,970 new members were inducted into lifetime membership. Not only is that 980 more than the previous year, it’s the all-time record for number of new members in a single year. Outside of the obvious – more members are better than fewer – let’s consider why. For each additional lifetime member, your school and the Society have the opportunity to honor another very successful student, who is staring at a very successful future, assisted by membership in BGS. We welcome each of our 21,970 new members from 2007-08, and we look forward to breaking that record again this year.
Central Office Follow-Up Invitations (Re-Invites)
Two years ago, the Central Office began sending re-invites to those students who qualified at your schools, but they did not respond to the original invitation. Of course, we have only done this with schools that chose to participate, but the response has been very good. To date, approximately 300 students have chosen to accept the re-invite, which means there are approximately 300 more deserving individuals who have been honored with lifetime membership. And the schools get the credit – if someone accepts through the re-invite program, it counts toward your chapter’s acceptance rate, raising the possibility that your school will accomplish Premier or Exemplary Chapter status.
Collegiate Chapter Training Seminars Well Attended
The Central Office is very pleased with the response of chapter representatives who have chosen to attend one of the BGS Collegiate Chapter Training Seminars. We had great attendance last year, and this year is looking to be even better. For instance, the Training Seminar scheduled for this week in Charleston, S.C., is completely full, as 30 reps will be spending a day learning how to better operate their collegiate chapters. We’re committed to helping everyone succeed, so plan on attending one of our Spring 2009 seminars.
