Beta Gamma Sigma B-Mail

As a chapter representative, the B-Mail is one of your most vital links to the Society.
The B-Mail is sent regularly via email to chapter representatives and contains up-to-date information on all things concerning collegiate chapters, including deadlines, programs, tips and best practices to make your chapter as successful as possible. To stay informed, be sure to read all emails with the subject line ‘B-Mail’.

Virtual Career Fair (VCF) and Virtual Graduate School Fair (VGSF)

Beta Gamma Sigma is hosting its 3rd Virtual Career Fair and Virtual Graduate School Fair September 14-30. This is a tremendous opportunity for students looking for a job or considering graduate school. Participating employers are specifically interested in attracting BGS applicants, and each participating AACSB accredited graduate program knows the value of Beta Gamma Sigma membership.

If you haven’t already, please encourage your students to check out
Beta Gamma Sigma’s Virtual Career Fair and Virtual Graduate School Fair during September 14-30

Coming Soon: Survey Results

Beta Gamma Sigma recently surveyed approximately 300 newly inducted juniors on a number of important topics, including:

  • awareness of BGS and its opportunities/programs;
  • perceptions about their invitation and induction process;
  • value of BGS member benefits;
  • career and graduate school plans;
  • and expectations of ethics and leadership in business.

Detailed survey results will be shared with chapters in our first webinar of 2009-10 on September 18, 2009. Meanwhile, check out what some members shared when asked what they would say to encourage potential members to join. Please feel free to use any of these quotes to help market and promote BGS to your chapter’s potential members.

“There is no reason not to. The process of joining is very easy and you start seeing the perks of joining quickly…”

“It helps connect you to other successful students, peers and leaders. And you can possibly make the connections to land your dream job. Putting BGS on your resume highlights your achievement and it has a positive influence on your resume.”

“It is a lifelong honor of personal and academic achievement setting you apart from the rest.”

“In today’s employment world, having every advantage to distinguish yourself from your peers on your resume is a valuable asset. Not only does Beta Gamma Sigma provide this opportunity, but it also allows further development of your business, networking and leadership skills.”

“With Beta Gamma Sigma, you don’t just pay a membership fee and stick it on your resume. The Society keeps you updated, informed and part of the community, which is really nice. I feel I can use it as a networking tool in the future."

Bronze Key
The Beta Gamma Sigma Key can be a symbol of academic excellence on your campus.

Beta Gamma Sigma’s Board of Governors encourages chapters to consider adding this symbol of academic excellence to their academic institution. The Key can be mounted either indoors or outdoors. The base should be obtained or built locally. Plans for a cast concrete base are available from the Central Office, but native stone or other materials may be used.

The Central Office Staff is prepared to assist chapters in fundraising efforts for purchase of The Key by providing contact information for BGS alumni of the chapter or potential donors in the area of the institution.

For information concerning the purchase of the BGS Key for display on your campus, please contact James Viehland, Executive Director, at jviehland@betagammasigma.org or download the informational Bronze Key flyer.

Click here to see how other collegiate chapters have chosen to display the bronze key.
