Board Strategic Planning
The year 2005 was an interesting, dynamic one for Beta Gamma Sigma. The Board of Governors looked to the future of the honor society by coming together and holding strategic planning sessions during the summer. This was the first time the Board had held these sessions for more than five years.
One of the changes that came from the sessions was the new wording of the Mission. The new wording:
“The Mission of the International Honor Society Beta Gamma Sigma is to encourage and honor academic achievement in the study of business, to foster personal and professional excellence, to advance the values of the Society, and to serve its lifelong members.”
The Board also adjusted some of the wording for the five Objectives of the Society, which can be found at http://www.betagammasigma.org/mission.htm.
Another update from the Board’s planning sessions was the new tagline used by Beta Gamma Sigma. Found at the top of all Society letterhead, envelopes, etc. is the familiar “key and blue bar logo.” Included at the bottom is the Society’s new tagline: “Recognizing Business Excellence.” This new tagline reflects the Society’s goal of recognizing excellence in business in all its forms, whether found on campus or in a professional setting. Consider using the Society’s new tagline when you’re promoting Beta Gamma Sigma and its programs at your school.
Finally, the Board of Governors has introduced a topic that it would like to see promoted by all the Society’s participants – deans, faculty, students, professionals, etc. While it’s easy to find and highlight all the bad news when it comes to ethics in business, Beta Gamma Sigma has committed to highlighting those who practice “Ethical Business Leadership” as an integral part of their business philosophy. You will see much more about Ethical Business Leadership in upcoming B-Mails and other Society communication pieces.
