Founders' Week

“Success is not to be measured by income but by influence, not by power but by personality, not by capital but by character.”

Quote from Stephen W. Gilman, one of three professors who founded Beta Gamma Sigma at the University of Wisconsin

Founders' Week is only a month away, and you should begin now to think about how you might help celebrate the occasion on your campus.

February 19, 2007 will mark Beta Gamma Sigma's 94th anniversary as an Honor Society.

Each Beta Gamma Sigma chapter is asked to celebrate this occasion during Founders' Week, February 18-24, 2007.  If your chapter has not made plans for Founders' Week, don't worry. Here are a few suggested ways to commemorate the occasion:

  • Order a custom BGS banner for display at your events. Please contact Donna Binek in the Central Office for information on ordering custom banners (dbinek@betagammasigma.org) - more information can be found at http://www.betagammasigma.org/bannerprinting.htm.
  • Host a reception for business majors or honors students.
  • Announce a Beta Gamma Sigma Professor of the Year.
  • Display Beta Gamma Sigma posters in prominent business school locations.
  • Display the Founder's Day PowerPoint Presentation - download at http://www.betagammasigma.org/Forms/founders2007.ppt
  • Set up a table to hand out BGS Information Cards and Brochures. Please contact Donna Binek in the Central Office for information on ordering Information Cards and Brochures (dbinek@betagammasigma.org).
  • Members can wear BGS apparel, keys, or ribbons on campus (BGS Store).
  • Tap (invite in classes) qualifying students/faculty for membership.

Celebrating BGS Founders' Week is not limited to suggestions from the Central Office - be creative and let the Central Office know how your chapter celebrated Founders' Week 2007!
