Student Leadership Forum

The Beta Gamma Sigma Student Leadership Forum continues to make its mark upon participants.

Forum after forum, participants walk away from the weekend retreats feeling enlightened, invigorated and more prepared to assume their roles of the leaders of tomorrow.

Supplementing the lessons taught in the business classroom, the SLF provides participants with an opportunity to discover who they are as leaders, what they can do as leaders, and what they can bring to the business world.

Since debuting the SLF in 2001, BGS has received hundreds of comments from its attendees each echoing the same sentiment: "The Forum is a life altering experience."

Judging from the comments of those attending the most recent Student Leadership Forum, held November 2-5, 2006 in Coral Springs, Fla., the SLF continues to impress.

Andrea Roedel, a Fall 2006 SLF attendee from Saginaw Valley State University, described the forum as "one of the most enriching experiences and inspiring events I have ever participated in – eye opening and life changing."

"The Beta Gamma Sigma Student Leadership Forum taught me to step into my shoes, whatever they may be and wherever they may take me, and live my dreams," said Renee Jennings from The Pennsylvania State University. "I now own who I am.”

The Fall 2006 BGS Student Leadership Forum was held November 2-5, 2006 in Coral Springs, Fla.

Setting itself apart from more traditional academic conferences, the SLF is much more than a series of lectures with a small bit of networking sandwiched between sessions. Team-building exercises, social activities, networking and other activities make the Student Leadership Forum a very positive step forward in the professional lives of those taking part. A truly hands-on experience, the Forum challenges participants to examine themselves and to ask important questions such as, "What Kind of Leader Will I Be?"

"This conference is a process for anyone to self discover – who you are, who you will be, and how you fit into the world around you," said Lisa Lam of the University of the Pacific.

Amanda Malecek, of Minnesota State University, Mankato, said "this was an amazing opportunity to force myself to think about my career and future in relation to my long-term goals and strong values.”
