Promote Membership Acceptance
Promoting Beta Gamma Sigma at the campus level is essential to increasing awareness of the Society and the collegiate chapter. Often times, the reason eligible students reject membership is because they simply don’t know what Beta Gamma Sigma is all about. To make sure this is not the case for your chapter’s invited students, consider implementing some of the Best Practices below. *Many of these tactics and practices have come directly from Beta Gamma Sigma’s top chapters.
Some Best Practices for Promoting your Chapter
-
Faculty members and current student members wear BGS keys, t-shirts or other BGS apparel during the week the invitations are sent or delivered. Faculty members display membership certificates in their offices.
- Order custom chapter T-shirts through the BGS website by clicking here.
- Send prospective BGS members the link to the Society's new video: "The Benefits of Joining Beta Gamma Sigma."
-
Offer the invitation to Beta Gamma Sigma membership to the students in their classes in a tapping ceremony.
-
Order BGS Info Cards through the Online Ordering System and disseminate them to your first and second year students, educating them about the honor of BGS membership. Inspire them to achieve the distinction of earning the BGS key early in their academic career.
- Promote the Society through the business school's social media channels. Tweet about inductions and post photos of your tapping ceremonies to Facebook.
-
Include an article about your Beta Gamma Sigma chapter’s induction (or other activities) in the School of Business publication.
-
Promote BGS on campus during Founders' Week (BGS Awareness Week) with information and a giveaway drawing.
-
Faculty members send personal notes/emails to their students congratulating them on invitation to BGS.

New Video for Promoting Membership:
The Benefits of Joining Beta Gamma Sigma
Beta Gamma Sigma understands that not all who are invited to join the Society understand the benefits of lifetime membership. To better explain the value of BGS membership, the Society created a video featuring its summer interns (lliyana Kuneva, Truman state University and Daniel Gross, Valparaiso University) providing some insight into the value of joining Beta Gamma Sigma. In their own words, these two current BGS members explain what lifetime membership can do for prospective members, now and throughout their career.
The video is now up on the Beta Gamma Sigma web site, and can be viewed by going to: http://www.betagammasigma.org/prospectivemembers.htm
If you have students who are not sure of the value of joining BGS, point them towards this video. Who better to explain the Beta Gamma Sigma's many benefits to a student, than other students? |
