Members looking for
job opportunities are starting to take a serious look at BGS
CareerCentral, Beta Gamma Sigma’s on-line job board,
found at http://www.betagammasigma.org/careercenter/index.htm.
Nearing its first anniversary as a service to members, BGS CareerCentral
has helped many members locate opportunities they couldn’t find
elsewhere.
In the last 10 months,
more than 3,500 Beta Gamma Sigma members have posted their resumes (called
profiles by the system) on BGS CareerCentral. During the same time period,
more than 100 recruiters have registered for the on-line system, indicating
that those seeking employment candidates see the value of recruiting
members of the Society. There have been more than 50,000 job views –
instances when a member clicks on the link to a job that has been posted
on the site.
When companies are
looking to hire “the best in business,” they look to hire
members of Beta Gamma Sigma. BGS CareerCentral provides an opportunity
for connections to take place where they might not otherwise. One example
of this was a recent custom opportunity designed for Accenture, the
global management consulting and technology services company. Accenture
indicated a desire to find the best young professionals to add to their
organization, and they recognized that Beta Gamma Sigma was a good place
to find them.
As part of the program,
Accenture placed 30 advertisements on BGS CareerCentral, each indicating
the company wanted to find qualified individuals who had graduated in
the last three years. Beta Gamma Sigma designed a targeted email to
those members that fit Accenture’s qualifications. The advertisements
corresponded to geographic locations across the United States, and the
response was great and immediate. Within a week, the site recorded
more than 15,000 job views, which represented a nearly 10-fold increase
from the week prior. In addition, nearly 500 members posted a resume
in that first week.
At the time this
newsletter was delivered, many Beta Gamma Sigma members had applied
for positions with the company through BGS CareerCentral, and Accenture
was starting the hiring process. The company did not yet have any further
information on the number of hires they would make as a result of the
program, but it was certainly a success.
Beta Gamma Sigma
is working with other companies to develop programs through BGS CareerCentral
that may help them attract members of the Society to fill their employment
openings. As more companies find out the value of Beta Gamma Sigma and
the opportunities to recruit members, it is important for members to
register at BGS CareerCentral and post their resumes. Members must have
their email addresses on file with the Central Office to receive periodic
updates about BGS CareerCentral partner companies, and they must register
with the site at http://www.betagammasigma.org/careercenter/index.htm.
Good luck
finding your next opportunity, and make sure you let us know if you
find it through BGS CareerCentral!
