Explain Member Benefits to Potential New Inductees

The role of the faculty advisor or other chapter officer is very important to the success of the collegiate chapter and the Society as a whole. These individuals act as a conduit between the Central Office and potential members. They are responsible for informing those qualifying for membership about the wide range of benefits they receive when they accept Beta Gamma Sigma’s invitation to join.

Whether it be lifelong recognition of outstanding academic achievement, BGS Scholarship criteria, Student Leadership Forum criteria, alumni chapter information, or the wide variety of other member benefits and programs available to members, the faculty advisor is the most important person in getting that information across to potential members. It may be juniors, seniors, master’s students, doctoral candidates, other faculty members, or those selected for honorary membership that request information, and faculty advisors and chapter officers must be knowledgeable about programs, and willing to do the work necessary to find the answers when they don’t know them. It is absolutely critical to the Society’s long-range success that potential members know the value of Beta Gamma Sigma membership.
