Diego F. Calderin
President, Anexinet Corporation
Nominated by: La Salle University

Diego F. Calderin oversees the day-to-day operations and executive management of Anexinet. Under his direction, Anexinet has experienced substantial growth and recognition with several prestigious industry and regional business awards. In 2005, Calderin was named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the Emerging Business category for the Greater Philadelphia and Central Pennsylvania region.

Prior to starting Anexinet, Calderin was the founder of Acatar Consulting Group, a regional systems integration firm specializing in database re-purposing, electronic commerce and digital content integration solutions. Prior to that, he was Vice President and Managing Director at Actium/Modis, where he was responsible for a $25 million regional business unit offering professional technology services and vendor-certified education for the Greater Philadelphia, New Jersey and Delaware markets.

Calderin began his professional career in 1984 with GE’s Space Systems Division in Valley Forge, Pa., where he held several positions in the fields of software and systems engineering, critical technologies and project methods.

In addition to his professional and entrepreneurial pursuits, Calderin was a founding member of the Irish band The Malarkey Brothers, and has played clarinet with the West Chester Community Band, an all-volunteer band, performing in and around the West Chester, Pa., area. Calderin is an active member of the Society for Information Management (SIM), and has served on its Programs Committee since 2005. Calderin is a regular contributor to the Weekend Business Report on KYW 1060AM Newsradio in Philadelphia.

Calderin holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from La Salle University and a master of engineering degree from The Pennsylvania State University.


Dr. Ashok Jain
Founder, President and CEO, Hope Mills Pediatrics
Nominated by: Fayetteville State University

Following his graduation from Kasturba Medical College, one of the top medical schools in lndia, in 1993, Ashok Jain traveled to the United States to complete his post-graduate residency in pediatrics at New York Medical College.

Jain later enrolled in a J-1 Visa Waiver Program to continue living in the US. The program required him to provide medical services in Indiana and North Carolina for three years. Upon completion of the program, Jain opted to remain in Fayetteville, N.C. and work at the local hospital.

In 2002, Jain enrolled in the MBA program at Fayetteville State University. In August 2003, he opened his first pediatric practice, Hope Mills Pediatrics. Eighteen months later, Jain branched out and added a second practice, North Side Pediatrics. Currently, Jain operates five practices that employ more than 50 people.

In 2006, Jain launched the India Foundation, a philanthropic organization. The foundation is raising funds for Project Drishti, which provides eyeglasses or cataract surgery to needy Indians and is also working to build a school in Rajasthan, India. The foundation has established a program to provide dance therapy to treat special needs children in North Carolina.

In May 2007, Jain and his family relocated to Bangalore, India to open Indus Westside Hospital. The 200-bed for-profit hospital opened its doors in November 2009 and features state-of-the-art technology, six operating rooms, 45 critical care beds, and serves medical, trauma, surgical, cardiac, pediatric, neonatology, and burn patients. Complete cardiac surgery, infertility/IVF, minimal access bariatric surgery, and transplant surgery are just a few of the many programs the hospital will offer.

Over the next five years, Jain plans to build more hospitals in rural parts of India through acquisitions, mergers, and new projects. Jain pledges to contribute 10 percent of his profits to charitable organizations and plans to offer medical services free of charge to the needy.


Theodore C. Rogers
Chairman, Bucyrus International; Partner, American Industrial Partners

Theodore C. Rogers has served on the boards of four Fortune 500 companies, as well as several private ones. Currently he is non-executive chairman of Bucyrus International, Inc. Rogers served as chief executive officer of Bucyrus International from December 1999 to March 2004 and served as the company’s president from December 1999 to August 2000.

Prior to this, he was executive vice president of Armco Steel Corporation and chairman and CEO of NL Industries.

In 1988, Rogers co-founded American Industrial Partners, a private equity firm with $1 billion of invested equity capital.

Rogers has served on the boards of many arts and cultural organizations, both in Houston and in New York City, where he now lives with his wife Betsy. She is the author of seven books, including a textbook used in university-level landscape architecture programs, and a National Book Award nominee.

Rogers is a passionate supporter of the arts. He is on the board and chairman emeritus of the New York City Ballet; chairman of Theatre for a New Audience, the only American theatre company invited by the Royal Shakespeare Company to perform at Stratford-on-Avon; vice chairman of the board of governors at St. John’s College and also serves on the boards of Poets and Writers magazine, The New York Society Library and The City Center for Music and Drama.

Rogers has run in 29 consecutive New York City Marathons. To share his love of running and make it possible for all others, he co-founded the Achilles Track Club, an organization that helps people with disabilities participate in long-distance running.

In addition to his MBA from Marquette University, Rogers holds a bachelors degree from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, a master’s of liberal arts degree from St. John’s College, and an honorary doctorate of humane letters, which Miami University presented to him in 2003.
