Beta Gamma Sigma Names Joe Max Green
Business Achievement Award Recipient
Beta
Gamma Sigma, the international business honor society, recently
named Joe Max Green, chairman, Joe Max Green/Insurance Concepts,
a recipient of its 2009 Business Achievement Award. The honor is
awarded annually to individuals who have made significant accomplishments
in business and contributions to the community.
“We are pleased to honor Mr. Green,” said George E.
Stevens, president of Beta Gamma Sigma. “His success in the
insurance industry and dedication to his community are deserving
of recognition.”
Green was nominated for the Beta Gamma Sigma Business Achievement
Award by Stephen F. Austin State University, where he received his
bachelor’s degree in business in 1960. He is one of four recipients
of this year’s award. The other 2009 recipients are Raymond
G. Chambers, founder, Amelior Foundation; Adm. Thad W. Allen, commandant,
U.S. Coast Guard; and Brian Duperreault, president and CEO, Marsh
& McLennan Companies Inc.
Green founded the Joe Max Green Insurance Agency in 1962 with a
mission to create a customer oriented, community-focused company.
Forty-seven years later, Joe Max Green/Insurance Concepts has grown
to be one of the top 100 insurance agencies in the nation.
Several successful acquisitions and mergers led to the expansion
of the firm. In 1995, Joe Max Green Insurance Agency merged with
Insurance Concepts. Two years later, the company acquired Chicago,
Ill., based Ben Franklin Insurance Agency, BFIA. In 2008, Joe Max
Green/Insurance Concepts joined Bancorp South Insurance Services
Inc. and became affiliated with a network of leading regional insurance
agencies.
Throughout his career, Green has been just as active and engaged
in his community as he has in his business. He is a member of the
Rotary Club and Economic Development Committee in Nacogdoches, Texas,
and is the former president of the Nacogdoches Booster Club and
Jaycees. Last year, Green was appointed to the Stephen F. Austin
State University Board of Regents by Texas Gov. Rick Perry.
Beta Gamma Sigma established the Business Achievement Award in 1998.
Individuals are nominated by Beta Gamma Sigma deans, faculty advisors
and members of the board of governors. They are selected based on
their significant accomplishment(s) in business, contributions to
the community, and ability to establish themselves as models of
ethical business leadership. Recipients are announced to the Society
during the International Honoree Luncheon at the Annual Meeting
of AACSB International each spring.
