Lamar University’s
Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter Receives Outstanding Chapter Award
Beta Gamma Sigma, the international business honor society, recently
named Lamar University a 2009 Outstanding Chapter Award recipient.
The chapter received the Bronze Chapter Award – the third
highest recognition a collegiate chapter can earn through Beta Gamma
Sigma.
“The Outstanding Chapter Award is presented at four levels:
Gold, Silver, Bronze and Honorable Mention. This year, it is a pleasure
to recognize Lamar University for its exceptional chapter performance
in encouraging and honoring academic achievement in the study of
business,” said George E. Stevens, president of Beta Gamma
Sigma.
In addition to earning this prestigious accolade, as the 2009 Bronze
Outstanding Chapter Award recipient, the Lamar University chapter
will receive a $1,000 scholarship from Beta Gamma Sigma to present
to one of its outstanding student members.
To be considered for Beta Gamma Sigma’s Outstanding Chapter
Award, chapters must complete and return a survey that details their
membership acceptance and activities. Only chapters with a membership
acceptance rate of 85 percent or greater are eligible for consideration.
