Dear
Potential BGS Member,
Congratulations
on your invitation to Beta Gamma Sigma! My
name is Nicole Wright and I wanted to
provide some more information about the Society.
By joining, you will become a part of an incredible
network of over 625,000 members worldwide. In becoming
a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, you will be joining the
best in business from around the world. Not only am
I a member of the Society but I also have the opportunity
to intern at the Central Office this summer. Through
talking with other students I have found that there
are many things about the Society that you may not know
and I would like to share with you a little of what
Beta Gamma Sigma can do for you.
As a student
many benefits are designed to directly meet your needs.
For members in the U.S., a year’s
subscription to BusinessWeek, Fortune, and The Week magazines are included in your membership;
for those of you who are international students, you
can access BusinessWeek online. You can also take advantage
of up to $250
discounts on test prep packages with Kaplan, Schweser,
Princeton Review and Becker. These are only a few of
the many discounts that are available. If you are looking
for jobs or internships, Beta Gamma Sigma’s CareerCentral has more than 3,600 job postings available with companies
like Disney, Google, Liberty Mutual, and Campbell Soup
- companies that all know the value of hiring BGS students.
Other benefits
include access to a network of members who are also
at the top of the business world. The online directory
can connect you with these members, as can the official
BGS LinkedIn group. The group is a useful
tool to network and view discussions ranging from how
to research grad schools to current job posting. With
over 13,000 members on LinkedIn, what a great opportunity
to make contacts and exchange information! There is
also a Facebook group, “Beta Gamma Sigma
Current Student Members,” targeted directly to
student members. This group has over a 1000 members
who are also applying for jobs and graduate schools
and facing the same challenges as you. This is a tremendous
resource as we transition from school to the professional
world. Want to follow Beta Gamma Sigma on Twitter? BGS
has recently added a
Twitter for members as a great forum for exchanging
ideas and interacting with fellow members of the BGS
network tool.
I
encourage you to visit http://www.betagammasigma.org/benefits.htm
to check out all of
the benefits
in more detail. Once again, congratulations
on your invitation to Beta Gamma Sigma. If you have
any questions, feel free to email me at nwright@slu.edu
Sincerely,
Nicole Wright
