Press Releases

It is often difficult, but absolutely critical, that those outside your business program know the significance of Beta Gamma Sigma. There are always a number of honor societies on campus, so it is vital that the Beta Gamma Sigma chapter on campus stand out from the crowd. Our Mission is clear, and with it comes a commitment to strengthening Beta Gamma Sigma – both on campus and as a Society.

One of the ways to get the word out is through the local media. While it can sometimes be difficult to make editors and reporters understand the importance of the “good news” you can provide them, they will often see value in a story if it involves a local individual or group.

Some of the targets of your press releases should include:

  • Local or regional newspapers (daily and weekly)
  • Student newspapers and publications
  • Business school newsletters and other publications
  • Students’ hometown newspapers (daily and weekly)
  • College- or university-wide newsletters and publications

Feel free to write releases on your own, or you may consider contacting a journalism/communications/public relations professor in your college or university to help you locate writers. Often, journalism and public relations students will write press releases for class assignments or to add to their portfolios.

Here are some sample press releases that can be downloaded and customized to fit your specific situation:
