Meet the student mentors of the 2016 GLS
Student mentors play an important role at the Summit by helping attendees navigate the case competition and serving as helpful ambassadors throughout the weekend. All of our 2016 student mentors attended the 2015 GLS, so they're ready to share their own experiences and answer your questions.
Alice graduated from University of the Pacific in California in 2016 with a master’s degree in accounting. While at UOP, she was part of a real $3 million dollar student investment fund, and she served as the vice president for graduate students for Beta Gamma Sigma and Phi Kappa Phi. Alice is currently working at Kruger Foods, Inc. She says she loves that everyday at Kruger Foods is different: “I’ve done everything from help the QA team get ready for food safety audits, researched tax write-offs for the controller, and completed all the paperwork for seven trademarks for the CEO.”

AJ Beltis is a Content Marketing Specialist for Toast, Inc. in Boston, MA. He graduated summa cum laude from Bryant University in May 2016 with his BSBA in marketing and a second major in communication. During his senior year, AJ was a Student Vice President for Bryant's BGS chapter and attended the 2015 GLS in Orlando, FL. His previous leadership experience includes working two summers at the National Student Leadership Conference on Journalism, Film & Media Arts, serving as a student mentor for the Bryant IDEA program, and attaining membership into the Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership Honor Society.
Angela is in her final year at the University of Akron, where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She is also working towards a minor in Spanish, and is a member of the Honors College. Angela is active in numerous organizations, which includes holding leadership positions within her campus chapters of Beta Gamma Sigma and Beta Alpha Psi. She says she is passionate about BGS, which is why she decided to become a mentor in 2016 after attending the 2015 Global Leadership Summit. Following graduation, Angela plans to attend graduate school, and then begin her career as a tax consultant at Deloitte.

Thomas is enrolled in the Honours Bachelor of Business Administration, Finance program at Brock University’s Goodman School of Business in Ontario, Canada. Thomas currently serves as a financial analyst in the customer finance department at PepsiCo. He has experience in accounting, finance, operations, sales, and technological problem solving. He says, “For my personal life and professional career, I drive for success by seeking new experiences where I can learn and develop my own skills. Breadth of knowledge is critical to developing high-value decision makers, and that is why I intentionally seek new experiences to diversify my knowledge.”

Jose is a young professional from the Dominican Republic. He completed his MBA from Southern University and A&M College in spring of 2016, and he received his BS in business from the Southern in 2013, where he was also part of the university baseball team. Jose is currently a project manager for NeosCloud, a consulting firm in manufacturing, telecommunications, and IT. Jose has been a member of Beta Gamma Sigma since fall of 2012; he held the position of vice president at the Southern University BGS chapter. He also attended the inaugural Global Leadership Summit in November 2015. Jose says he is “really excited for the opportunity to work as a mentor at the upcoming GLS in Dallas.”

Xulun is the student president of Beta Gamma Sigma at University of Massachusetts–Boston. He is studying international management and management information systems for his majors, and French as his minor. Xulun is a tutor at his school, and he has been working for the past two years in database management for two international trade companies. He enjoys music, hiking, and jogging.

Micaela is an MBA student at the State University of New York at New Paltz, where she is working on her degree in public accounting. She graduated summa cum laude from SUNY New Paltz in December 2015 with a BS in accounting. Micaela is currently working as a tax accountant for Crane Company in Stamford, Connecticut, while studying for the CPA licensure exam. In her spare time, she enjoys crocheting, figure skating, and hiking.

Magdalena received her master’s degree in business administration with a concentration in analytics from Dominican University in spring of 2016. During her time at Dominican, she was president of her BGS chapter. In 2008, Magdalena earned a BS in civil and environmental engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She is a professional engineer working at a construction company, and she says sustainability is one of her passions. Magdalena is continuing her education even further by pursuing a post-graduate degree in advanced analytics at Northwestern University starting in spring of 2017.
