International Honor Society Beta Gamma Sigma welcomes new CEO

Beta Gamma Sigma is pleased to announce the hiring of Christina Carosella as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Carosella assumes the role following the retirement of Jim Viehland, who served as the Society’s executive director for more than 35 years.

Carosella comes to BGS with an extensive background in leadership, having held executive positions in the nonprofit, consulting and corporate worlds. Her passion lies in helping nonprofits find new sources of revenue and impact through forming strategic alliances for shared missions.

Carosella takes the CEO position at a critical and exciting time for Beta Gamma Sigma. Currently, the organization is implementing a new strategic plan to re-position the honor society as it enters its second century. Carosella says she’s excited to move the organization into the future.

“Moving BGS forward means we’ll take a look at everything we do to assure we’re offering our members the benefits and value they deserve,” she said. “It also means adapting our organization to provide strategic opportunities in both the academic and corporate environments.”

The new CEO hopes to establish an even higher level of service to the society’s members and chapter advisers, stronger alliances with corporate partners and a wider level of engagement with the organization’s stakeholders.

“Chris is very energetic, creative and driven,” said Betty Jo Licata, Chairman of the Beta Gamma Sigma Board of Governors. “She has extensive leadership experience in the corporate and nonprofit sectors, and we are excited to welcome her to BGS. She is the ideal person to lead us in the implementation of our new strategic plan, and increasing value to all of our members, collegiate chapters, alumni chapters, and corporate partners. The BGS Board is looking forward to working with Chris to grow Beta Gamma Sigma both throughout the US as well as around the world.”

Active in the community, Carosella has served on many nonprofit boards focused on business growth, education, child advocacy, financial literacy and leadership development.

In addition, she is a summa cum laude graduate of Saint Louis University with a degree in organizational psychology.
