Chapter Advisor of the Year

The Chapter Advisor of the Year Award is a merit recognition awarded by Beta Gamma Sigma to an outstanding Advisor who both made great contributions to the success of their Chapter and supported the Beta Gamma Sigma mission throughout the course of the academic year.

Beta Gamma Sigma invites our High Honors and Highest Honors Chapters to nominate their Advisor or Co-Advisor to be honored as a recipient of the Outstanding Chapter Advisor Award.

Joanne Pencak

Professor at University of Vermont

Joanne Pencak is a consultant specializing in executive education, fraud prevention and internal controls. Before teaching, she was a practicing Certified Public Accountant and the managing partner of a CPA firm which was acquired by a regional firm. She obtained her MBA with a concentration in Information Security in 2008 from James Madison University. In June of 2009, she attended the American Association of Collegiate Schools of Business Bridge Program at Ohio State University. The AACSB Bridge Program helps senior level executives transition from industry into the classroom. She serves as a member of the advisory board to the Treasurer of the City of Rutland, Vermont, and as the voluntary Chairperson for the Fresh Air Fund, as well as the Vermont State Tax Advisory Board.  

Prior to teaching at the University of Vermont, Joanne was an Assistant Professor of Business Administration at Castleton State College, where she served as the Coordinator of Graduate Accounting.  At UVM, she is the advisor to several student organizations, including Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society, the Women in Business Club, the Diversity In Business Club, and Men’s Club Basketball.
