2024 - 2028 Strategic Plan

BGS embarked on a strategic planning project in April 2023, partnering with Third Plateau Social Impact Strategies to facilitate the process. Over the course of the engagement, the Third Plateau team has worked directly with BGS HQ Staff and the BGS Board of Governors, interviewed key stakeholders, surveyed members and non-members, conducted focus groups, and completed market research. Through these collaborative efforts, we have clarified our core reason for existing (our “Why”), revised our mission statement, formalized our value proposition, and developed a theory of change to highlight how our activities will benefit members and move us closer to realizing our mission.

Beta Gamma Sigma honors student excellence in business education, develops forward-thinking business leaders, and fosters a global community to be catalysts for good.





Value Proposition

Beta Gamma Sigma: Purpose. Leadership. Community.

Beta Gamma Sigma provides lifetime value to members through opportunities to catalyze business as a force for good, develop skills to become forward-thinking business leaders, and make global connections across geographic, social, and political boundaries. This means when you join BGS, you’ll be part of a global community of high-achieving business leaders changing the world for the better.

 

Purpose. Achievement, excellence, and career growth are in service of helping business be a force for good. We support members to work for something bigger than themselves: to make lasting, positive change on our communities, countries, and planet.

Leadership. We identify and develop principled, ethical, and transformational leaders. We connect members to professional development and leadership experiences and promote best practices so our members can advance their careers. 

Community. We build a global community of current and aspiring business leaders, connect members around the globe, offer events and opportunities to learn and collaborate, and foster trusting spaces to exchange ideas, suggestions, and support.



OUR STRATEGIC FOCUS

To make progress towards our vision in the next four fiscal years, we will focus on the following three priorities:

1.    Deliver on our value proposition

2.    Boost brand awareness

3.    Increase financial sustainability

If accomplished, we expect each of these three priorities to increase our global membership network and allow Beta Gamma Sigma to better deliver on our mission. Each of the strategic priorities contains several strategies (approaches) and tactics (specific actions) which will take place throughout the life of this plan.



Priority 1: Deliver on our value proposition

To ensure our offerings provide maximal benefit to members, we will strengthen our programs to align with our refined value proposition, provide additional leadership development opportunities, create more global connection opportunities and offer increased experiences to catalyze business as a force for good. BGS will cultivate a sense of community among our members and chapters to ensure collaboration and a sense of belonging.

To deliver on our value proposition, BGS will:

1.    Increase opportunities to use business as a catalyst for good.

2.    Invest in leadership development opportunities for members.

3.    Deepen the sense of community among BGS members across the globe.



Priority 2: Boost brand awareness

Brand awareness is critical for our members to build a broad network that opens career opportunities and creates collaboration to leverage business to solve bigger problems. 

To boost brand awareness, we will:

1.    Create more engaging and member-focused content.

2.    Diversify and improve BGS’ offline communications and marketing.

3.    Boost social media presence.



Priority 3: Ensure organizational financial sustainability

To ensure long-term financial sustainability, BGS will focus on diversifying revenue streams, beyond lifetime membership fees.

To increase financial sustainability, we will:

1.    Diversify revenue streams.

2.    Revise the organization’s corporate partnerships and sponsorships strategy.

3.    Maintain a balanced budget.
