Automated CMS Reminders beginning Nov. 1

Beginning next month, an automated induction invitation reminder email will be sent to all invited students 7 days before the scheduled processing date for certificates. (The certificate processing schedule can be found here.)

These reminder messages may be sent prior to that date; they’re sent to anyone who has not accepted until that point. If your chapter would like to opt out, please email us

Virtual training sessions scheduled for January—register now!

We have three virtual trainings available for chapter officers and advisors to learn more about BGS and the chapter management system (CMS).

For advisors: Virtual Collegiate Chapter Training Seminars

This half-day training is designed to give faculty advisors and administrators information in a condensed format to help them gain knowledge of BGS, without traveling, or taking up a full day. Attendees still learn about BGS, the role of the chapter, how to increase awareness and acceptance rates and more—while also being able to ask questions and gather ideas from other chapter leaders.

January 16, 2019 – 1 – 4 PM CST

For officers: CMS Virtual Training

This hour-long training is offered via webinar; it shows chapter officers how they will utilize the system to invite members, order supplies and manage member acceptances. These webinars are ideal for all chapter officers, both new and continuing.

January 28, 2019, 8 am - 9 am CST

January 28, 2019, 3 pm - 4 pm CST

Pro tip for chapters with late November/December ceremonies

If your chapter is hosting a late November or December ceremony, the next few weeks would be a great time to invite all eligible members! This will give them plenty of time to complete their membership profile before the certificates are generated for production. We suggest uploading students 4 to 6 weeks before the ceremony to allow ample time to accept and receive certificates.

If you have questions, please reach out to us.

Reminder: update your new student officers with Global HQ!

We don’t want your student officers to miss out on valuable training and tools! Engaging students early in the school year also helps earn engagement points towards the Chapter Honor Roll.

There will also be a student officer information session and networking dinner at the GLS. This will be a great opportunity to connect with other chapters and share and gather ideas. More information will be shared at check-in.

Not sure if your names have been submitted? Just send us a quick message.

Participate in BGS Gives Back: More information about our partnership with Junior Achievement

As you’re planning your semester’s activities, remember to participate in BGS Gives Back—and don’t forget to fill out the information form and tell us about your activity, so you can earn Honor Roll points!

Now it’s easier than ever to participate in BGS Gives Back, thanks to our partnership with Junior Achievement (JA). JA's volunteer-delivered, kindergarten through 12th grade programs foster work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills, and use experiential learning to inspire students to dream big and reach their potential.

Click here to locate a JA Area rep near you and schedule an event for your chapter.

NOTE: We have also shared chapter advisor, co-advisor and admin information with our contact at JA. They will be sharing that information with the JA Presidents and Program Managers to aid in collaboration efforts. If you would not like your information included on this list, please reach out to Denise Cage.

Sign up your chapter for the Ethical Leadership Certification Program

Thanks to our partnership with the NASBA Center for the Public Trust, students who take the Ethical Leadership Certification course will learn from Fortune 500 CEOs about decision making, conflict management, ethics (obviously), and how to influence others. Students may take this course on their own schedule, at their own pace.

Chapters participating in group enrollment also receive teaching aids to spark discussions around the topics covered in the program. They will also receive 10 points towards the collegiate chapter honor roll!

Chapters may enroll a group of two or more students and elect to:

  • pay their registrations in full
  • pay for half the cost of their registrations, or
  • allow students to pay for their own registrations

Collaborate with your local alumni chapter or alumni networking group

Connecting with local alumni is one of the benefits of being a BGS member—even if the members are still in college! Help your chapter connect with members of your local alumni chapter or alumni networking group. Here are some ways to do it:

  • Invite alumni to your BGS recognition ceremony
  • Ask alumni to participate in mock interviews or resume reviews for BGS students
  • Establish a BGS alumni scholarship to help pay new membership fees
  • Offer university venue space to a local alumni chapter
  • Consider co-hosting an event with BGS alumni, such as a speaker event or a BGS Gives Back event
